Good morning everyone!
Just a couple reminders this week-
*We are fresh out of glue sticks. If you could please send in a small pack of glue sticks with your child by next Monday, that should get us through the remainder of the year.
**Our final field trip of the year is next Thursday, Feb. 27th to the Avon Lake Library for a lesson on sound. If you would like to join us and have not let me know already, there is room for 3 more volunteers.
***Spring conferences are coming up on Wednesday, March 4th from 4-7 and Thursday, March 5 from 8-3:30. Mr. Franco will be sending out signup information later this week. There is no school Friday, March 6th.
If you have any questions, let me know!

Good morning-
We have been working on writing using "kid spelling"- sounding out words and writing the sounds they hear, even if the spelling is wrong. Being able to write a word by sound demonstrates strong letter-sound correspondence. We are also discussing word families. So far we have reviewed words ending in -an, -at, and -ar.
In math we are practicing teen number equations by making a 10 and finding how many ones are needed to build a number 11-20. This can be a little tricky for young learners, I will be sending home extra math homework papers for extra practice.
Thank you to everyone that has donated cans for our 100 day collection. We are up to 54 cans! If anyone is available and willing to take the cans to CRS for us next Thursday or Friday, please send me an email and let me know! 100's day this year will be next Tuesday, Feb. 4th. We will be celebrating with 100's day activities all day and we will not be dressing up.
Tomorrow is a school spirit day! Please allow your child to wear their pajamas to school tomorrow!
Our Valentine's Party will be on Thursday, February 13th. A signup genius has been released to sign up to volunteer at this party. There is no school on February 14th or 17th.
Finally, just a heads up, we have our third and final field trip of the year to the Avon Lake Library on Thursday, Feb 27th for a lesson on sound.

Happy New Year everyone!
In Fundations we are doing daily practice of CVC words, sight words, and writing. Decodable readers (sight word books) are a great resource to make sure your child is getting in reading practice at home.
In math we are focusing on addition/subtraction facts 0-10. The main goal is for students to build fluency with these facts and be able to identify the 2 parts and the whole.
*In February we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! Beginning on Monday, January 23rd, we will be collecting canned goods to donate to CRS. Our goal is 100 cans for 100 days of kindergarten!
*Next Thursday, January 16th we have a Learwood Spanish class coming to our classroom for a fun Spanish lesson. The Learwood students will be paired with a Kindergartener. They will read their kindergarten buddy a story in Spanish and the same story in English.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Good morning everyone!
This week we have been traveling all around the world to see how the holidays are celebrated in other countries. Ask your child if they remember any of the places that we've visited so far!
In math, we are working on building fluency with addition and subtraction facts. We are listening for key vocabulary words to help decide if the equation should be addition or subtraction- if practicing at home use words join, leave, take away, minus sign, sum, difference, and break apart.
Just a couple reminders this week-
-Next Wednesday, Dec. 18th is our Holiday concert. Kindergarten families should attend our morning concert from 9:30-10:30.
-A Signup Genius went out earlier this week for our Gingerbread House party next Friday- Dec. 20th. If you signed up to send something in, please send it with your child no later than next Wednesday, Dec 18th. This way I can separate candy into individual bags for the students- less germs!
-Finally, tomorrow morning we will take our Winter Math Maps assessment.
-Next Friday Dec. 20th we will be reading Polar Express in the afternoon. Please allow your child to wear their PJ's to school!

Happy Friday everyone!
In Fundations, we are now practicing all letters daily. We are also well into "tapping" sounds in CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words such as dog, cat, lip, etc.
We added sight words 'you' and 'here' this week.
In math we are discussing subtraction. Some vocab words to use when practicing at home are take away, less than, fewer, minus, and equals.
*Next Tuesday we have our first field trip to the High School to watch the High School students perform the musical Elf. All of Eastview will be attending this field trip. We also have our first field trip to the Avon Lake library coming up on Thursday, December 5th. For this field trip, we are able to take along volunteers with us. If you would like to join, I am able to take up to 6 volunteers. Please send me an email!
*If you were not able to attend Kindergarten Adventure Night back in October and would like the resources that were sent home at this event, please send me a quick email and let me know!
*This last note is just a friendly reminder that as we approach boot season, Velcro shoes to change into are very much appreciated. 😊
If you have any questions, let me know! I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Good morning everyone!
Tomorrow is Halloween! I let the children know that they should wear their costumes to school tomorrow as the parade/party will be first thing when school begins. The party will begin in our classroom right after the parade, around 9:15. If you are volunteering, please plan on arriving to our classroom around 9:15. The party should end around 10:00.
If you would like to VIE (volunteer) in our classroom, please use the link below to sign up for an available time slot. Typically VIE's will be working with small groups on students at a table outside of our classroom.

We are running low on a couple things in the classroom! If anyone would be willing to send in a bottle of hand sanitizer, that would be great! I also like to keep an extra snack in the room, just in case anybody forgets. I typically buy the large boxes of goldfish. If you are able to donate either thing to our classroom, please send me an email. Thanks in advance!
October homework calendars can be sent in tomorrow for a sticker. November homework and behavior calendars will also be sent home tomorrow.

Good morning!
Over the last couple weeks letters a, g, p, and j have been added into the mix. Letters p and j are this week so we decided it is a great time to have a PJ party! Plan on Thursday, October 24th to be a pajama day!
In math we are wrapping up comparing numbers through 10. A few vocabulary words we have been working on are greater than, less than, and equal to.
Yesterday afternoon we had a Fire Safety Talk with an Avon Lake Firefighter. See what your child remembers from this lesson!
This Friday is our first kindergarten party! We will be carving pumpkins- a signup genius went out a couple weeks ago to volunteer or send something in. Just a reminder that there should be carving sets only, no kitchen knives please.
Next Thursday is Halloween! Everyone is invited to the Halloween Parade at school, which begins at 9:00. If your child is able to change themselves, they can bring an extra outfit to change into if they would like. We will have our Halloween party immediately following the parade. A signup genius was released for this event, as well.
I am also very excited to share with you all (even though many of you figured it out!) that I am expecting my first child in April. We will find a great long term substitute for the kiddos to end the year with!
Have a great week!
